The championship battle between Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen is exciting; with just five races to go, the Dutchman leads by just twelve points. The fact that the upcoming race is in Mexico, truly Red Bull territory, gives the Verstappen fans good hope.

Perez the hero of Mexico

Mika Hakkinen sees an important role for Perez in the upcoming race. The Finn also thinks there will be some surprises before the end of the season. Hakkinen cautiously hints at a season finale in Abu Dhabi.

In his column on Unibet.com, the former world champion writes: "it is the home event for Sergio Perez and I know the Mexican fans are really looking forward to seeing their hero in a race-winning car running at the front."

Mercedes to Red Bull will be tough fight

Hakkinen predicts an important battle between Red Bull Racing and Mercedes. Not only will they fight for the constructors' title, but teamwork will also be needed for one of the two title contenders to prevail.

"Sergio’s performance in this next race will again play an important strategic role for Max, but I know that Lewis and Valtteri Bottas remain confident that there will be more opportunities for victories this year. It’s a championship that has produced some major surprises and we will certainly see some more before we reach Abu Dhabi in mid-December."
