Max Verstappen will do everything possible to keep Lewis Hamilton behind him in turn one of the United States Grand Prix. The Brit will start from P2 alongside the Dutchman. Robert Doornbos stresses that the second starting position could provide an advantage in Austin.

"Turn one is exciting every weekend, but here we've seen in the past that whoever starts second often has the advantage there. It's not that there is more grip. Normally on the racing line, where Max is standing, there is more grip, because there is less dirt. Then you have more traction," Doornbos told the preview of Ziggo Sport.

"Often they put pole position on the racing line, so if he gets away well, I do expect him to squeeze as well. We've seen in the past, especially with Lewis and Nico [Rosberg], that Lewis then got away a bit better from P2. He is then in control of that corner. He can fake that he has understeer and then he just pushes the other to the outside," the analyst continued.

Verstappen doesn't have to worry too much anyway, as the Dutchman has already had a number of good starts this season, Doornbos also stresses. "Fortunately Max's and Honda's starts are exceptionally good this year. You have to decide quickly, so maybe he's already lining it up a little bit obliquely."
