The Turkish Grand Prix made it clear to Mika Häkkinen that Mercedes are getting it right. Although Max Verstappen is currently six points ahead in the world championship, the former Formula 1 driver believes the battle is far from decided.

Häkkinen saw Verstappen perform superbly last weekend. The Dutchman took second place, while Lewis Hamilton finished in fifth place. Despite this, Mercedes impressed him. "Lewis and Valtteri were quickest in qualifying, and Max is admitting that Red Bull have some work to do if they are to win this World Championship," he noted in his column on Unibet.co.uk.

Hamilton and Verstappen get help

Verstappen and Hamilton are approaching the end of the season, which means they can no longer afford to make a mistake. According to Häkkinen, the pressure is no longer just on the two leaders in the world championship, but Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez are also getting an increasingly important role to play.

"As we move into the final six races in the World Championship I think that Valtteri and Sergio will come to play an increasingly important role in providing Lewis and Max with the right level of support and strategy options. Max only leads the World Championship by six points, so with 156 points available during these final races the title could swing one way or the other very quickly."
