Masi responds to Alonso's accusations: 'Rules are the same for every driver'

Not everyone agrees with the decisions of the FIA. Last weekend in Turkey Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso both received a five-second penalty for a collision they caused. Alonso has already criticised the FIA's decisions, but according to Michael Masi there is no truth in that.

Alonso does not agree with the decisions made by the stewards and the FIA so far in the season. In Austria, cars overtaking on the outside at turn one were not penalised, but when Alonso did so at the Russian Grand Prix the FIA wanted to talk to him.

The Alpine driver drove over the run-off area at turn two in Sochi and came back onto the track without losing positions. The action had no consequences for the Spaniard, but the FIA criticised it and does not want to see it happen again.

'Every driver is entitled to his opinion'

According to Alonso, different rules apply to different drivers. Michael Masi has now responded to the Spaniard's statements. "I don't concern myself with such accusations. Every driver is entitled to his opinion, but the rules are the same for everyone", the race director says on Marca.com.

"The stewards are an independent body, they look at each incident themselves. They do that with all the information and data they have and then make their decision", Masi explains about the different penalties and warnings.
