Sergio Perez is still unable to help Max Verstappen in his battle with the Mercedes, and Red Bull Racing is also trailing Mercedes in the constructors' standings. In Russia, the Mexican's performance was again disappointing and he even made contact with the pit wall.

2020

The Mexican will therefore hope for a better race in Turkey. A repeat of his result in 2020 would be a big step forward for Perez. He finished second at the Istanbul Park circuit in 2020. He is also quite satisfied with the race and his speed in Sochi, despite the disappointing result. "I have a lot of confidence in the car. I think we have been able to show some speed recently," Perez said at the press conference ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix, recorded by Speedweek.com.

Simulator work

"I am aware that we need to do everything we can to get the car in the right place on the grid and then score important points. That way we can make sure we finish the championship in the position we want. We worked a lot after the Russia GP to analyse what went wrong and what went well and where we can improve. I also spent some more time in the simulator before the Turkey GP, so we have done our homework," Perez said.

"I am now looking forward to the last seven races. We are doing well and now we need to prove that with good race results on Sunday because I want to be on the podium again this weekend."
