The 2021 Formula 1 season is still in full swing, but many teams are already largely focused on 2022. That certainly applies to Haas, says Mick Schumacher. Haas has fewer resources than richer teams and therefore has to set clear priorities.

The introduced budget cap may be a relief for the smaller teams, but that doesn't mean they have the same facilities as the top teams. Therefore, Haas has decided not to develop the 2021 car during the season, and instead focus entirely on 2022.

Schumacher hopes for points in 2022

For Schumacher, this means that he has also put his hopes of scoring points on next season. "Hopefully we'll be driving in the midfield then," said the German rookie in conversation with Motorsportweek.com. "I think that's an achievable goal because we started that project a bit earlier than the others."

"We have spent the lion's share of our budget for this year on the car for 2022, so hopefully that will give us a little edge at the start of the year," continued the son of Michael Schumacher. "Hopefully we can finish in the points regularly, that would be a big step forward. I'm going to work very hard to make that happen," said a motivated Schumacher.
