To find out when Lewis Hamilton last won in Formula 1, we have to go back more than two months, to July 18. Back then, Hamilton won the British Grand Prix after sending Max Verstappen into the wall on the opening lap. Since then Alpine and McLaren have won, but Mercedes has been on the sidelines and Hamilton is stuck with 99 wins so far.

The seven-time world champion is slowly starting to get the itch to win his 100th race. "It will definitely come, but of course I'm going to go all out to get number 100", Hamilton explained in conversation with Motorsport.com. The Mercedes Briton is currently five points behind Verstappen, but will be hoping to regain the lead in Russia, with the Dutchman starting in 20th place.

Hamilton still suffering from neck pain after Monza

At Monza, both scored zero points after Verstappen ended up on top of Hamilton's car in the first chicane. Since then, Hamilton has had some neck pain, leaving it to be treated a lot. "We did that a lot last week and it felt better and better. When I got here, it felt all right again."

Hamilton explained that it did hurt slightly in the morning, but that it no longer bothered him in the car. During the race he will be hunting for the lead from P4 and will need to overtake George Russell, Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris to do so. That doesn't seem to be a difficult task, but the Briton struggled with Norris in Monza and stayed behind him for a long time.
