Leclerc goes for world title: 'This gives me confidence in the future'

Ferrari had a tough year in 2020, but the Italian team has rebounded considerably this season. The team is battling with McLaren for third place in the world championship and has two good drivers in the team with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

While Leclerc has been performing well since the start of the season, it took Sainz longer to get used to it. The Spaniard was in a new car and clearly had to get used to the Ferrari. However, he is now almost level with his teammate in the world championship.

Leclerc wants to win the world title with Ferrari

Ferrari hopes to go for the world title in 2022. Although this step seems a long way off for now, the new regulations could bring changes. "We are aware that we took a step back after 2019, but since then we have always worked in the right direction, albeit with small steps, especially due to the technical regulations. This gives me confidence in the future," Leclerc told Corriere.

The driver sees that the Italians are providing developments. "We've been moving forward for a while now and there's no reason to think we'll reverse the trend in 2022. I believe in the Ferrari project, I never doubted, never lost my enthusiasm."
