AlphaTauri announced on Tuesday that Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda will form the driver duo for the Italian team in 2022 once more. Ahead of the Italian GP, both drivers spoke out about this early announcement.

Red Bull isn't usually known for letting their talents know where they stand early on. Drivers can be thrown to the wolves in F1 or even at Red Bull Racing, and then be released when their performances are less than satisfactory. However, Red Bull have now extended the contracts of its drivers at Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri.

AlphaTauri opts for stability

"I’m obviously happy after yesterday’s announcement, I feel very comfortable in the team, things are going well, and I think there’s definitely more to come for us," Gasly revealed in the team's press release. The question is how long the Frenchman will be happy at the team though, as a second chance at Red Bull doesn't seem to be on the cards for him right now.

"After yesterday’s announcement I’ve been given an additional boost, I believe if I continue developing and learning in the way I have been doing in the last few races then I can start delivering results more consistently, particularly on tracks I know well," concludes Yuki Tsunoda, who despite some poor performances in his first season, will still get a second year at AlphaTauri.
