Max Verstappen was visited by the Royal Family prior to the Dutch Grand Prix. He didn't let it bother him and won the race on the circuit on Sunday. After the race he told The Telegraph that he appreciated the visit of the family.

"I thought it was super nice that they were there with the family. Afterwards, I saw them standing under the stage. I found the king super relaxed. He also knew quite a lot about cars, because he is a driver of course. He asked what I do on the steering wheel during a race, so I explained what buttons I use," says Verstappen.

The organisation of the Dutch GP can count on a lot of praise from the 23-year-old from Limburg. Where an F1 race at Zandvoort seemed impossible years ago, the 2021 edition proves the absolute opposite. "I think they did a really good job here. I think in the Netherlands we're pretty good at organising big events anyway. But if you see it here, with limited entrances and the number of roads, they have solved it super," he told Sky Sports.

Cats get attention from Verstappen

Victory at a home Grand Prix is something to celebrate, of course, but Verstappen is not going to go all out on Sunday night. The focus must soon turn to the weekend in Italy and hangovers are not part of that. "I'm taking it easy, of course I have to. Monza will be very important again. I hope the people are drinking alcohol free beers when they have to drive home. I'm going to rest at home," Verstappen smiled.
