The first session at Zandvoort was short but sweet. The Formula 3 had its first free practice session, but the drivers had to be very economical with their time due to two red flags.

The first free practice in F3 immediately made a lot clear about the circuit. The images are amazing and for the drivers it is a huge challenge. Every mistake is punished, and makes you end up in the gravel. But this also causes problems, because early in the first session there is a red flag to sweep away the gravel.

Start at Zandvoort

After the first break the drivers go out again, but again that doesn't last long. Dutchman Van der Helm of all people makes a mistake in turn nine. He hits the sign with the distance to the corner and shoots straight into the wall. It's the end of the session for the Dutchman and once again a red flag.

After that red flag, only few minutes remained and drivers strugged to find the right space to set a good time. Jack Crawford set the fastest time at the end of the session, followed by Aleksandr Smolyar and Frederik Vesti.
