This week is all about the Dutch Grand Prix. Until the weekend actually gets started, fans are mainly looking forward to what is to come. Robert Doornbos is looking forward to the massive support that Max Verstappen will get and the welcome for Lewis Hamilton.

According to Rijnmond, however, the Dutchman says that the home advantage does not suddenly give Verstappen more speed on the track. "It's not like you suddenly get two or three extra tenths as a gift when you drive in front of a home crowd."

"You also have home drivers who don't perform in front of their own audience, but Max has already shown that he can win at Zandvoort, although that was in Formula 3 ," Doornbos continues. "I expect that he just has a very good car and that 70 thousand people, weather or not, can cheer for a victory of Max. The pressure is huge, but that's what I predict."

Welcoming Hamilton to Zandvoort

Just like the Grand Prix itself, the reception of Hamilton at Zandvoort is a much discussed topic. Like many people, Doornbos hopes the Brit will be received well and treated with respect.

"There are always a few bad apples, but why should you boo him? He is a seven-time world champion, a living legend who is coming to Zandvoort and is competing with the new king."

From Friday, the weekend at Zandvoort starts with the first two free practice sessions. Then we will see for the first time how Hamilton is received by the Dutch fans.
