The racing action in the premier class of motorsport has finally resumed after a three-week summer break, and in a way that will make many Formula 1 fans forget the three weekends without a Grand Prix ever happened. After an eventful and drenched qualifying session at the Belgian circuit, it is not only clear that the battle between the two title rivals, but also the duel between teammates will be just as hard-fought as it was in the first half of the season.

With his convincing pole position Max Verstappen has once again managed to outperform team mate Sergio Perez. The Mexican, who is assured of a seat with the Milton Keynes-based team in 2022, stuck on seventh place. Hamilton also increased his lead over Bottas in the qualifying duel.

Due to his crash early in the third session, Lando Norris was forced to concede victory to his teammate today. This will make little difference to the British driver, who is fortunately able to appear on the grid for tomorrow's Grand Prix.

Russell convinces

Also noteworthy is of course the extremely impressive P2 of George Russell. Not only does the Briton clearly show his worth to Toto Wolff with this result, he also keeps his goal clean in the duel with Nicolas Latifi. Gasly also managed to keep the zero by again setting a better qualifying time than his teammate Yuki Tsunoda.
