Verstappen can equal unlucky record with win in Belgium

Max Verstappen could set a new record with his next victory. He would then share this record with none other than Sir Stirling Moss. When Verstappen takes his next win, he and Moss will both have 16 Grand Prix victories, but no world title.

A temporary record

If Verstappen wins his 16th Grand Prix in Belgium, he will still have zero world championships. Something that Moss also managed to achieve. The Englishman finished second in the championship four times, but never managed to take the coveted title. With 16 wins, Verstappen and Moss will share the record for most wins without a world title.

When Verstappen wins his 17th Grand Prix, he will take over the record from Moss. The crazy thing about this record is that he could also lose it at the end of the season if he wins the world title. That would give the record back to Moss.

It won't be the first time Moss has gotten his record back. Nico Rosberg won his first world championship when he had 23 victories to his name. The German lost the record for most wins without a world title and Moss would have it back.

Tough battle with Hamilton

For Verstappen, it will be tough task to do the same as Rosberg did in 2016. The Red Bull Racing driver is in a tough title fight with Lewis Hamilton in 2021. And the last driver to keep Hamilton from the title is of course that same Rosberg.
