In four Formula 2 weekends so far Bent Viscaal has collected eight points, good for sixteenth place in the standings. The Dutch driver makes his debut in this season's rookie class and there is still a lot of ground to cover.

"That would be my ideal plan for the near future though," says Viscaal to Motorsport.com when asked if a new Formula 2 commitment is the goal for 2022. However, there are a lot of things that need to happen for it, including, for example, funding. An F2 seat often costs around 1.5 million per year anyway.

Viscaal looks at options

Viscaal knows that next year will have to be a lot better if he wants to stay at the top of motorsport in the years to come. "In the end you weigh up all the options and you also know: if you are running a second season in Formula 2, then you really need to be there and competing for the championship. That's very simple."

The main goal is of course to achieve Formula 1, but IndyCar is also possibly an option. He would then follow in the footsteps of countryman Rinus 'Veekay' van Kalmthout. "I haven't really thought about it yet, but to be honest I've always been a fan of the IndyCar. That racing class is very close to my heart. At the moment we are just looking at all the options for next year. Maybe a switch to America is also an option and again, I think that racing class is fantastic, so who knows..."
