With a scintillating first half of the season behind him, McLaren driver Lando Norris can look forward to a promising second half. The driver seems to have completely mastered the papaya coloured car and, he says in a new interview, also experiences the atmosphere within the team and the relationship with his team bosses as a tailwind.

In conversation with Autosport.com Norris explains how his relationship with Zak Brown and Andreas Seidl works, and how this helps him to get the highest possible result as a driver. Norris: "I think it's been hugely important, having them support you in tough times and criticise you when you need to be criticised."

The Briton continued: ""It's not all about trying to make you feel good but telling you the truth and tell you: 'You've just got to be better in this area, and you've got to be better in this area'. They also want to help you do a better job and maximise yourself."

Pressure remains high

Despite the good and friendly atmosphere within the team, Norris is also aware that expectations are high and he needs to perform. "It's definitely helped me progress quicker, become a better driver. I still feel pressure from them, so it's not like it's easy and we're best mates or whatever and I can get away with everything. They're still my bosses and I don't want to make mistakes", Norris said.
