Guenther Steiner has been in Formula 1 for years now. Although the Haas team boss has little to cheer about this season due to disappointing results, he is still enjoying motorsport.

The team boss looks back with Motorsport.com back to the beginning of his career. "I moved to the UK in 1996 and started a custom team for Prodrive, which is still a great company," he told the medium. "Then I became project manager for the Ford Focus rally car. I was then promoted to technical director there. Then I got a call from Niki Lauda, when he was head of the Jaguar team in Formula One. That's where my career in the category began."

Steiner's career continues

Steiner went on to work as a general manager, after which he spent a year driving for Opel in the DTM. He then made the move to Red Bull, which has since become Jaguar. It resulted in a move to the United States.

"I spent five years setting up my own company, which I still have, a composite materials company, and then I got the great idea - I don't know how it happened - to have an American F1 team. I put together a business plan and found an investor. I've been at Haas for seven years now."
