'That sudden adjustment must be pretty irritating for Red Bull and Newey'

Pirelli's new rear tyres don't seem to be doing Red Bull Racing much good, although Max Verstappen hasn't been able to show much since the tyres were introduced for the Silverstone Grand Prix. Formula One journalist Peter Windsor reckons Red Bull are suffering considerably from the change but the team could use the summer break to work with Adrian Newey to find a solution.

"The issue Red Bull faces now is that they have that exquisite car designed by Adrian Newey, with all the attention that has been paid to the sculpting of the rear end and the air flow around the diffuser," Windsor begins.

Red Bull can put summer break to good use

He continues: "It must be incredibly irritating for Newey that in the middle of the season such a modification is made to that rear tyre from Pirelli, and the impact that has on the airflow in that car. For Red Bull that's a pretty drastic change," the analyst explained.

However, Windsor thinks Red Bull can make good use of the summer break to find a solution. "Newey can start thinking to himself what the solution to this problem is and what the tyres are doing. The problem is that he doesn't have much data from Pirelli on the dynamics of the tyres, so there will be some guesstimation involved as well," the Formula One journalist said.
