AlphaTauri has an excellent driver in house with Pierre Gasly this season. The Frenchman has scored 50 points so far and is eighth in the world championship. It promises a lot for the second half of the season.

Yuki Tsunoda is not doing so well at the moment. The Japanese driver is racing in Formula 1 for the first time this season. During the first race in Bahrain he scored two points, but after that his season wasn't without problems. Franz Tost however remains confident in Tsunoda's qualities.

Talented Tsunoda needs time

The AlphaTauri team boss points out in conversation with Motorsport.com to the Japanese driver's talent and states that it is not easy to enter Formula 1 as a young driver. "I think from the outside we underestimate this, and we have to give young drivers the time, because just to come from another category and sit in the car, thinking you can drive without doing any mistakes and you will be immediately successful is dreaming on the wrong side."

Tost is therefore trying to give Tsunoda a few important things to consider. "To become successful in Formula 1, you have to work very, very hard, and you have to be disciplined. But also this, the young drivers have to learn. We are on a good way with Yuki. He is learning fast, and sometimes maybe he’s a little bit too motivated."
