Concerns about booing at Zandvoort: 'Be nice to Hamilton'

Lewis Hamilton took it hard on the Dutch fans in Hungary. The boos were clearly audible in Parce Fermé and on the podium, and Tom Clarkson and Damon Hill are therefore worried about the Dutch Grand Prix.

Since the collision with Max Verstappen at Silverstone, Hamilton is not a popular person amongst the Dutch fans (if he ever was one), and that was clearly audible during the Hungarian GP. Hamilton couldn't have escaped the boos, and that's going a bit too far for the British reporter and former F1 driver.

''Even when he was on the podium there was still booing going on. That's upsetting. When he was racing and making his way up to third, there was cheering. No idea what's going on there," said Damon Hill at the F1 Nation Podcast and also colleague Tom Clarkson saw that, and both are worried about the GP in Holland.

On to Zandvoort

''I don't think it was malicious, I think it was just crowd nonsense. They were tired and emotional. Directly in front of the podium was the Orange Army, they had their own grandstand. Anything they said was what Lewis could hear more than anything else. A bit disappointing, and my goodness what will it be like at Zandvoort?" Clarkson wonders.

Hill, former Formula 1 world champion, makes an appeal to the Dutch fans. "Dutch fans, be nice to Lewis, will you. He's doing what he's good at, and it's just going to be fun and good because we have a lot of listeners from Holland," Hill said.
