Daniel Ricciardo did not have his best race in Hungary. It was a continuation of a mediocre and unstable season for the Australian, who during his debut season at McLaren is struggling to get close to teammate Lando Norris.

According to MotorsportWeek.com McLaren team boss Andreas Seidl says he is disappointed, but that the team as a whole also just needs to move on despite all the setbacks with Ricciardo.

"It's just disappointing, but at the same time you can't do anything about it. That disappointment doesn't bring you anything. We just have to accept it, that things like this can happen. We know we have a strong car, we know we have a strong team and we have two strong drivers. With this combination, we have everything we need to have a good second half of the season - that's what we're focused on."

Damage to car Ricciardo

Because on the opening lap, Ricciardo naturally collided with a few drivers, something that had quite an impact on his race in Hungary. The Australian eventually finished eleventh and did so with a lot of damage.

"With Daniel's car I think the front wing was damaged, then the bargeboards. The new bargeboards were badly damaged and the floor on the side, [the] front of the rear wheels on the right side was also damaged. Kotom: huge loss. Probably seven, eight tenths per lap plus of course the consequences for the stint."

McLaren will want to recharge during the summer break, especially with regards to Ricciardo, and then go on to drive a good second half of the season and secure third place in the constructors' championship.
