Did Red Bull go too far after Silverstone? 'Didn't handle that well'

Since the incident at Silverstone, the battle between Red Bull and Mercedes both on and off the field has only gotten spicier. Some people enjoy it, others feel that both Red Bull and Mercedes are going too far with their off-track behaviour.

So too does Marc Priestley, who in his YouTube video discusses what he thinks of the behaviour of Christian Horner and Red Bull. He would, if he were in their shoes, do things differently.

"I personally think that Christian Horner and Red Bull in general did not come out of the Silverstone Grand Prix incident well. Red Bull was the most affected by the incident at Silverstone. They came out of that the worst, as they did last weekend in Hungary. But the way they played it through the media and challenging Hamilton's penalty they didn't look too good as far as I'm concerned. They didn't handle that well in my opinion."

Red Bull must focus on performance

At least that's what Priestley thinks. He says the car Max Verstappen is doing his laps in is good enough to win a championship this year. The Brit thinks Verstappen's team is now focusing too much on peripheral issues and off-track events.

"At the end of the day they have a car with which they can win a championship with Max Verstappen. I would like to see them focus on the fight on track rather than off track. In my mind that would have been a better way to approach it from their perspective. But: at least it does add to the spirited battle for both championships we have at the moment."

Red Bull now have the entire summer break to resolve the situation regarding the driver alongside Verstappen for next year, after which the focus will turn to winning both championships this year and developing the 2022 car.
