During the two-day Pirelli test at the Hungaroring, Alfa Romeo will join on Wednesday. Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi have already been sent on holiday, leaving the spot vacant for Formula 2 driver Theo Pourchaire.

First official test for Pourchaire

Wednesday will be a special day for Pourchaire. It will be the first time that the 17-year old Frenchman will step into a Formula 1 car. Pourchaire will drive the 2019 Alfa Romeo C38 and share the track with Ferrari and McLaren let Motorsport.com know.

Pourchaire is part of the Sauber academy and is considered one of the biggest talents of the moment. Pourchaire is currently driving in Formula 2 with the ART team and in Monaco, he managed to become the youngest ever polesitter and race winner of the class. He is currently sixth in the standings with 65 points.

Still no seat in F1

The teenager hopes to race in Formula 1 soon but expects that it might take a while yet. He still has a lot to learn and Alfa Romeo team principal Frederic Vasseur is also not in a hurry to get his protegee into Formula 1.
