The Hungarian Grand Prix was for now the last one in Formula 1. The teams will go on holiday the coming weeks to return at the end of August in Belgium. Max Verstappen has a lot of thinking to do for the time being.

The Dutchman was miles ahead of Lewis Hamilton before the Silverstone race, but saw that lead go up in smoke in just two races due to mistakes made by Hamilton himself and Valtteri Bottas respectively. The incidents even left Verstappen a small gap on his competitor, which will leave him disappointed on holiday.

Verstappen showed his true class during the race in France and the double GP in Austria. Mercedes had little to show for its home races, while Verstappen drove to first place with ease. The papers were full of Verstappen's qualities, but the races in Britain and Hungary proved how quickly the tables can turn.

Satisfaction at Red Bull

Verstappen will be preparing for the second half of the season with a slight sense of disappointment, but he can be pretty satisfied with his own performance. The driver could do little about the bad luck in the last two races and must above all keep the focus on his own performance. If he is able to do so he will remain the emotional leader in the championship for the time being.
