Alexander Albon may not have a race seat for 2021, but off the track, he's still working very hard to help Red Bull Racing in the battle for the world title. He does a lot of simulator work to help Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez set up their cars.

Simulator work to help Verstappen and Perez

It was a bitter pill to swallow for Albon when he heard he didn't have a seat on the 2021 grid, but the Thai is happy to still be part of the Red Bull programme. Albon was essential to the setup of the car in Monaco, where Verstappen eventually won the Grand Prix.

The week before the Monaco Grand Prix, Albon spent five days in the simulator: "It can be intense," he says at the official website Of Formula 1. "But it varies. For Silverstone, it was just two days – Thursday and Friday. A lot of the work I’m doing now is on next year’s car." Albon works about 50% of the time on the 2022 car and the other 50% he works on this year's car.

Wanting to give everything for the team

Albon is much praised within the team by both team boss Christian Horner and drivers Verstappen and Perez. "Obviously it’s nice to hear the comments from both of them, from everyone. It’s a different role. For me, it’s clear, I just want to do the best I can. Whatever I can do for the team, [I want to] show my worth, show what I can give to them."
