Pierre Gasly is happy with the compliments he recently received from Helmut Marko in an interview. The Red Bull Racing advisor praised the performance of his pupil and Gasly is pleased with that.

Marko's words justified

Marko hinted last week that we are currently seeing the best Gasly ever and that the Frenchman would do much better if he were now to take his seat alongside Max Verstappen again at Red Bull Racing. "I think it's fair," the 25-year-old driver responded to his superior's statements at a press conference during the British Grand Prix weekend.

"I’ve improved now with more experience, I’ve grown up a bit knowing the team also better: I’ve been working with them for a few years and I think we have a good working relationship, we know exactly what we need from each other. So I think it’s a fair comment," Gasly told.

Gasly waits and sees

Recently he discussed his future with Marko. Gasly had a good feeling about it, but he doesn't know much about the plans for 2022. The teammate of Yuki Tsunoda is quietly waiting and in the meantime is concentrating on himself and his performance. "I'm trying to get as many points for the team as I can because we're having a very strong season, we're fighting for the fifth position which never happened for the team and I really hope we can get this at the end of the year so that’s the first priority and we’ll see what happens for next year a bit later in the year.”

Gasly is still locked in at Red Bull until 2023, so it's not so easy to make the switch to another stable within Formula 1. In his own words, he's not looking to do so at all. "As I said it’s not a decision which will be made in the next few days. My future at the moment is in Red Bull’s hands and we’ll see what happens for next year, I’m sure, in a couple of weeks.”

It is expected that Red Bull will evaluate around the summer break to see who is the best option for 2022 to put alongside Verstappen.
