Red Bull Racing did not have a trouble-free qualifying session at Silverstone, but is still hopeful of a good result, both in sprint qualifying and in the race on Sunday.

In a statement from Honda F1, Toyoharu Tanabe said, "The first day of the British Grand Prix weekend started with a completely new format, where we only had an hour of practice time before the qualifying session that determined the starting grid for sprint qualifying. Max was second fastest on behalf of Red Bull Racing, but very close to the fastest time, and Sergio finished in a solid fifth place, although he had a faster time that was disallowed."

Honda sees no problems on engine

Red Bull Racing didn't have the strongest session, but in terms of the Honda powerplant, everything should be fine. "Today was a new experience for everyone," Tanabe continued. "But in terms of the power unit, we made sure everything was running smoothly, although we saw that there were difficulties in tuning the chassis and engine in just one hour."

"To prepare for sprint qualifying, we will look at today's data and simulate different scenarios that we can expect during the sprint race," the Japanese finishes.
