Kimi Raikkonen didn't seem to be quite awake at the end of the Austrian Grand Prix, where he crashed with former teammate Sebastian Vettel. According to Marc Surer, it's about time Kimi quit Formula 1.

It was a strange moment at the end of the race. Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen went off together on the last lap after the Finn overlooked his former teammate. It wasn't about the points anymore, but the impact could have been much bigger.

Raikkonen retirement?

In Portugal, the Finn touched his teammate by looking at his steering wheel. Kimi's contract expires at the end of 2021, and the question is whether the man who turns 42 in October will be wise to stop now.

''The time has come for Kimi. We all like him a lot and he still has the one of the biggest supporters groups in F1, but his time has come. He hasn't lost his talent, but his pure reflexes have, you just lose those with age. That's not something you have to argue about for a long time,'' Surer said in a video of Formel1.de.

Raikkonen isn't the only driver competing at the top level of motorsport into his 40s. Fellow Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso will turn 40 later this month. And the 2021 Indy500 winner Hélio Castroneves proved there's still strong performances left in him at the age of 46.
