There is some controversy about the Aston Martin colours. According to Andreas Weissenbacher, CEO of BWT, the car on TV looks too much like the Mercedes car. For a sponsor who wants to stand out, this is of course not ideal. He announced this earlier this week. Still, the F1 branch doesn't completely agree.

Aston Martin team boss Otmar Szafnauer says to Motorsport. com he understands what the problem is, but the car will remain green. "Aston Martin has traditionally been green, and we started the Aston Martin Cognizant F1 team. I think we'll stick with green. Ferrari is red, Aston Martin is green. I think the green looks good on us, that's for sure. I think it's a beautiful colour in the sun and when you look at it 'live'."

Maybe change to livery Aston Martin after all

What Szafnauer does understand, is that the car might not stand out enough for the sponsor. "I do think we need to see if we can make it stand out a bit more on television, without losing the green when you look at it outside. I don't know if we can do that, but that's one of the things we want to do, just to make sure he stands out on TV from some of the other dark cars."

Whether those changes will actually come this year remains to be seen, of course. At the Austrian GP, the Aston Martin car will in any case be the same as before: green. Very green.
