'Positive talks' between F1 and new engine suppliers

A discussion has taken place between the Formula One board, the FIA and representatives of Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, Renault, Porsche and Audi regarding the future power unit regulations to be introduced in 2025.

The discussion is about the general direction of the new rules. There is no guarantee yet that new engine manufacturers will enter Formula 1, but the first meeting seems to have gone in a positive direction.

“Very positive discussions took place today with all of the current and potential new Power Unit suppliers regarding the next phase of the Formula 1 Power Unit,” reads the official statement on Twitter.

“The discussions will continue over the coming weeks with further news to be announced following those discussions.”

Various changes to F1

F1's plan is to replace the current 1.6L V6 hybrid power unit. There should also be standard parts to reduce costs and the fuel will have to become fully sustainable. The changes should make it more attractive for other manufacturers to join the sport as well. In the coming weeks, we can expect more news about the developments.
