Lewis Hamilton will start from second on the grid in Sunday's Styrian Grand Prix. He admits he is concerned with the raw pace of the Mercedes car in the battle against his Dutch rival. The Mercedes driver saw Max Verstappen ahead in the middle of Q3 and tried to make up the time in the final run.

Mistake in Q3

The British driver lost 0.2 seconds in the first sector and tried to make up the time during the rest of the lap. This culminated in a mistake at turn nine which saw Hamilton run wide.

"Firstly, well done to Max. They've been so fast this weekend. I've been giving it everything, just wasn't the greatest of sessions but nonetheless, I'm on the front row with the penalty. We'll go into the race tomorrow for a fight," Hamilton said in the post-session interview.

"They've generally had a quarter of a second on us over the weekend, we've managed to move closer in qualifying. I don't think we have the raw pace to overtake them. I'm going to be giving it everything, but maybe tomorrow we'll be surprised. Maybe it rains," he concluded.
