Alpine Racing looking forward to home race: "Extra pressure to perform"

The upcoming GP weekend in France is a home race for Alpine F1. The team, that is battling with AlphaTauri and Aston Martin for fifth place in the Constructors' Championship, is looking forward to the weekend at the Paul Ricard circuit.

In a press release from Alpine Racing, Esteban Ocon says that he is excited about the upcoming weekend. Not so strange of course, since he is driving a home race, just like the team.

"It feels like so long ago that I was at the start of my home Grand Prix in France, so I'm very ready and looking forward to doing it again this weekend. Obviously I didn't race in 2019 and there was no French Grand Prix last year, so I definitely have extra motivation and energy for this race. I think everyone in the team is desperate for a good race on home soil, and we're going to work hard for that. It's the south of France, nice weather, fans in the stands and the fastest cars in the world...I can't wait!" said the Frenchman.

Home race brings extra pressure for Alpine

Marcin Budkowski, Executive Director of Alpine Racing, knows that with a home race comes extra pressure. Add to that the exciting battle for fifth place in the Constructors' Championship, and an extremely important weekend lies ahead for the team.

"A home race is special for every team. Alpine is a French brand headquartered in France, while the Formula One team is mainly based in the UK, so we could even say we have two home races. It's a pleasure to represent Alpine on French soil, especially in such a beautiful region, but there's also extra attention for the team. There are more fans supporting us in the stands, VIPs and executives from the Renault Group and so the extra pressure to perform. But once the race weekend starts, everyone is focused on getting the most out of the car, the drivers and the whole team, as we do at every race."

Next weekend will show whether Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon can perform in these conditions and grab important points in the battle for fifth place in the Constructors' Championship.
