After the Azerbaijan Grand Prix there was a lot of talk about the dangerous action of Nikita Mazepin on his teammate Mick Schumacher. According to Gerhard Berger and Christian Danner, it was a bit naive of Schumacher.

After the restart for the final two laps of the race, Mazepin and Schumacher were very close. Schumacher wanted to pass the Russian, but of course Mazepin wasn't going to let that happen easily. On the straight the German wanted to pass him, but at the last moment he had to swerve on the straight as Mazepin had sharply moved to the right to cut him off. It was "life-threatening" according to Schumacher.

Schumacher naive

''For us that was quite normal. The guy in front always moved to the side. In those days, we didn't have cameras to show all that. If you really broke the rules, it went to the stewards. But now there was no rule violation, because this was within the rules'', he said to Sport1.de.

Former Formula 1 driver, Danner, looks at it the same way, and even thought Schumacher was a bit naive. ''You can't expect to pass your teammate on the last lap and he will just pull over,'' he said.
