Nikita Mazepin is in his first year in Formula 1. The Russian driver has been notable in recent races with several crashes and dangerous moments. On top of that, he did not score any points for Haas. However, the driver has the feeling that he understands his car better and better.

The Haas driver has been meeting with his team over the last few months to discuss progress. Mazepin finds it difficult to give himself a grade for his first races. "If they asked me after Bahrain, I would give a very low mark," he told Sports.ru. "But after a careful analysis of the past races, it became clear what caused my poor results and turns. It was down to the car itself. I would probably give myself a four now."

Mazepin ran into burnout in his first year in Formula 2. Since the pressure is even greater in Formula 1, he keeps a close eye on his own health. "This year was not easy, of course. The pressure in Formula 1 is incomparable to any other series. But I think I am responding well and with dignity."

In Azerbaijan, Mazepin received a lot of criticism for his performance. When Mick Schumacher wanted to pass him, he performed a dangerous manoeuvre. His teammate was not at all happy with Mazepin at the time.
