Steiner notices Red Bull is very fast: 'Verstappen can do it'

The title fight seems to be building more and more tension among the top teams this season. Since Monaco Max Verstappen leads the championship after Mercedes performed less than expected in the Principality and Baku. The other F1 teams are also seeing the reigning world champions make more mistakes than usual.

According to Guenther Steiner, team boss of the American Haas, it can be explained that the German team makes more mistakes than expected. He explains this in conversation with RTL. "They come under pressure. You have to take more risk under pressure". That there is more pressure on Mercedes is logical according to Steiner. "Red Bull is doing a good job, it's possible that they win it. I think then Max Verstappen in particular, he can do it."

Steiner, therefore, expects Verstappen to be a major danger to Lewis Hamilton in his hunt for his eighth world title and also sees Sergio Perez as an excellent second driver for Red Bull. The team from Austria are in the hunt for their first constructors' title since 2013, which will also be the first non-Mercedes title in the hybrid era.

According to Steiner, this is achievable, with Verstappen as the fastest driver. In recent years, the Dutchman still made the occasional mistake, but he doesn't see that now.
