Jaime Alguersuari, former F1 driver at Toro Rosso, has taken a long time to come to terms with his time in Formula 1. He certainly doesn't look back on his three years at Toro Rosso in a positive light. Especially the way the Spaniard said goodbye did not go down well with him.

In an interview with the Spanish branch of Motorsports.com he explained that, after his farewell in 2011, he was not very happy. Not with anyone.

"It was a time when I felt anger and rejection towards Formula 1, towards Helmut Marko, towards Red Bull, towards everything that had happened. I tried to work as a commentator for Movistar in Formula 1, but as soon as we got to the track I got sick. I was not happy to be there, it was not my place at that moment." Goodbyes were said by Toro Rosso to both Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi in 2011.

Difficulty leaving F1 behind

Despite knowing there was more to it, Alguersuari also knows he at least got the chance to showcase himself. This, according to him, not many other people can say.

"I was very lucky to get the opportunities I had. I did a lot of races, I made it to Formula One and got a few points. Of course I didn't have a chance at Red Bull or in a more competitive car, but I'm starting to realise that I was still privileged and I have to be grateful for that. But it did take me a while to realise it. It took ten years to close the chapter and I've closed it now," said the Spaniard.
