On Some bizarre images you could already see on Friday that extreme weather conditions in the Ardennes caused the necessary problems on the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. So much so that the circuit is now temporarily out of use.

The first corner at Spa is called La Source and it lived up to its name on Friday. The straight after La Source was turned into a swirling river by a heavy thunderstorm.

The mud from the surrounding hills had only one way to go and that was the bottom of Eau Rouge. It turned into a small lake, which is also aptly named. Long before the construction of the circuit similar scenes must have been seen at that spot.

The circuit will be prepared soon

The mudslide made it necessary to lay a new layer of asphalt on that part of the circuit. This is because the old asphalt was pushed up by the enormous rise in the ground water level. Also some cellars and tunnels of the pit complex will have to be emptied. The expectation is that the circuit can be reopened next Tuesday.
