Looking back at the Monaco Grand Prix, and the significance of Mercedes' poor performance, which seems to have continued again this weekend, former driver Johnny Herbert foresees a tilt in the power struggle between Hamilton and Verstappen.

According to former driver Johnny Herbert, the pecking order of the title battle between Verstappen and Hamilton has tilted in Monaco. Herbert explains, in conversation with the AD" Then one has a better weekend, then the other a moderate weekend. The latter cost Lewis a bit more in Monaco than Max did earlier, so the pecking order has now started to fluctuate a bit."

"And that fluctuation will remain for a while," the former driver predicts. "When we go to France, it could be different again. Or even here already." Again, the Mercedes drivers don't seem to be able to get the most out of the W12 this weekend, something that bodes well for the folks at Red Bull.

Herbert also knows that Verstappen is currently in an ideal situation to seriously challenge for the world title. "Max is where he should be, in a good car, with a strong team. That provides peace of mind. And the knowledge that you can always increase the gap, as long as you leave the rest behind", Herbert said.
