Simply put, Esteban Ocon has had a great start to 2021. The driver is beating teammate Fernando Alonso at Alpine F1 Team, but still has no contract for 2022. The Frenchman says he will leave that to his management.

Focus on the job at hand

Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi is noticing the driver's strong results and Ocon revealed: "It’s always nice to get good words from your team boss," to Autosport.com. Ocon has two-time world champion Alonso as a teammate this year, but he is still managing to beat him.

"At the moment I’m just focusing on doing the job I have to do on the track, which is to perform in the car, extracting the maximum out of it, thinking what we can do to improve things," Ocon continued.

Contracts not yet an issue for Ocon

"I let my management side do the job on the contract," the Frenchman, who is still part of the Mercedes junior programme, concluded. Because of that link to the Silver Arrows, it is still possible that he will step into the second Mercedes seat from 2022.
