Sebastian Vettel changed teams last season. Where the four times world champion was part of Ferrari in recent years, this season he drives his races for Aston Martin. However, the German is having a hard time adjusting.

The experienced driver showed during the Monaco Grand Prix that he still has the level to get the most out of his car. Vettel finished in fifth place, staying ahead of Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes. "He’s getting more and more comfortable in the car and the margins are really, really tight, especially in the midfield," said team principal Otmar Szafnauer in conversation with GPFans. "If you don’t feel comfortable in the car and you don’t push it to its limits, just barely away from it, then you are a tenth [of a second] off or two-tenths off."

Szafnauer expects Vettel to start performing more consistently soon. "I’ve talked to other drivers, too, who have switched teams and are going through the same or similar process and they said their guess was it was going to take about five races for them to really feel comfortable. My guess for Seb, I mean we are trying to predict the future, is that it will probably be in that realm too."

Aston Martin battles with rivals

Aston Martin is currently in fifth place in the Constructors' Championship. The team has one point more than AlphaTauri, which in turn is just ahead of Alpine. Red Bull Racing has 149 points after five races.
