For the drivers at the front of the field, the Monaco GP usually means driving in a train. At the back of the field, the race is all about looking in the mirrors to make way for the leaders. The Haas drivers did almost nothing different.

Russell can imagine Schumacher's difficult race

George Russell knows better than anyone how frustrating it is to drive the slowest car around the Monaco circuit. With so many blue flags, this race is perhaps the most difficult and intense of the year for those behind. This was especially true for Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin this year. The Haas drivers were put on a lap no less than three times.

"That's really difficult", Russell told Motorsport-Total.com. "And when you pull over you lose all the temperature in the tyres and you have no grip. It's a nightmare. It was already difficult for me, but those guys from Haas are not to be envied at all. We had that two years ago too."

Russell finished fourteenth at the Monaco Grand Prix and was only lapped once. Nevertheless, he too had to look in his mirrors. He said he had just got into his rhythm when the faster cars appeared behind him. "Then you lose focus and rhythm," he said.
