Charles Leclerc experienced one of the biggest disappointments of the past weekend. The Ferrari driver seemed to grab pole position, but drove into a wall in Q3. As a result he was unable to start the race on Sunday afternoon.

Although Max Verstappen was on an excellent final lap and would most likely have taken the lead on the grid had it not been for the red flag, the performances of Carlos Sainz and Leclerc showed that the Italian team had an excellent weekend. Whereas Leclerc was initially disappointed, he was able to put the incident into perspective a few days later.

"Of course you can always learn whenever things are not going the way you want to, but I feel like I've done a good job this weekend anyway," Leclerc responded in conversation with Autosport.com. "It has happened in the past and many times I'm very very harsh with myself, but if there was any time during the weekend where I had to push especially Q3 in Monaco, it's part of the game."

Positive signs for Ferrari

The driver is therefore sticking to the words of his team boss Mattia Binotto. "What I'll try to remember from this weekend is all the positive signs we've had. Here it might be a one-off to be fighting for the win but that doesn't mean that there has been no progress."
