The Monaco Grand Prix is known for being very difficult to overtake on track and almost any kind of overtaking has to be done through strategy. Pirelli therefore expects a one-stop to be inevitable, but even with a one-stop there are still multiple opportunities for the drivers.

Everyone in the top ten will start on the softest tyre and even outside the top ten, the expectation will be that the softest tyre will be the one to start on. Pirelli expects the fastest strategy to be a stint on the red soft tyre, followed by the yellow mediums. The next quickest strategy will be a start on the red tyre, followed by the white.

Strategy determines the race

An unlikely strategy seems to be a start on the yellow mediums, rounded by the white hard tyre. This strategy seems a lot slower than the other options. An important factor will be a possible safety car. The drivers would slow down and it would be easy to make an undercut.

The choice of tyres is largely the same for the teams. Everyone has a new set of the yellow and white tyre and everyone outside the top ten also has at least one fresh set of the softest tyre left. Therefore the strategy seems to be the same for all teams.
