Despite numerous repairs to Charles Leclerc's car after qualifying, Ferrari have found that the gearbox damage is not significant and so the man from Monaco will not have to expect a grid penalty. As a result, it is certain that Leclerc will start from pole position today in Monaco, with Max Verstappen alongside him.

After the crash in the swimming pool chicane, it was clear that the front of the Ferrari needed to be replaced. The rear of the car was spared any damage, so the Italian team does not have to incur any grid penalties and the Monegasque can start from pole position for the eighth time, with Verstappen alongside him.

Multiple crashes in the same corner

Verstappen knows the spot where Leclerc found the wall well, having parked his Red Bull in it twice himself. In Leclerc's case too, a part of the front suspension broke off, rendering the car undriveable. Verstappen's gearbox had to be replaced, but Leclerc was spared that fate.
