Lewis Hamilton does not use the simulator. The simulators get better with every passing year, but the Mercedes driver doesn't see any added value in them. Hamilton never does a trackwalk either.

Simulators not for Hamilton

These days simulators are getting closer and closer to the real thing. But despite that Hamilton feels the simulator is of little use to him. "I hardly ever drive on the simulator. I maybe do 20 laps a year, maybe. I have no interest in the simulator," he is quoted by the official F1 website.

Saving energy for the rest of the weekend

Another thing Hamilton always skips is the trackwalk that teams and drivers do on Thursdays. This often discusses the minor changes to circuits compared to previous years, such as new kerbstones. "I used to walk the track when I was younger. But what I’ve discovered is that for me, it was a pointless exercise," Hamilton revealed.

"It’s a lot different when you approach it at high speed. So what I found was that it was just wasting energy; my weekend’s all about keeping energy and maintaining it so I can do the job," Hamilton says.
