Pirelli is busy developing the new tyres for 2022 and that is why the tyre supplier is currently working on an extensive two-day test in Barcelona. There we also see some familiar faces in a Formula 1 car.

Albon back in Red Bull

One of the drivers who will participate in the test on Tuesday and Wednesday is Alexander Albon. The Thai-British driver got back into the Red Bull for the first time since losing his Red Bull Racing seat to Sergio Perez. Albon is now a test and reserve driver at Red Bull and gets to get in the car on both test days. "I can't describe how good it feels to be back in the car. And how good do these tyres look," Albon put on Twitter.

Albon is not the only driver sent away by Red Bull during the test, Daniil Kvyat is also in attendance. On Tuesday he tested for Alpine during the only day the team was present at the test. Robert Kubica will also take both days at Alfa Romeo.

Extensive test program

The test days in Barcelona are part of an extensive test program in which all teams participate. The test days will be divided equally to give no one an advantage. Next season Formula 1 will switch to rims with a diameter of 18 inches, which will also require new tyres. Previously there were tests in Jerez, Bahrein and Imola.
