A day before the race violence starts at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya the Formula 1 teams were busy preparing. Also, the usual driver's conference took place today. Below is an overview of all the highlights of Thursday in Spain.

Red Bull brings in more Mercedes staff

The biggest news of the day comes from the stables of Red Bull Racing. In a press release today the team announced that they have persuaded five members of staff from Mercedes to join the team to join the Red Bull PU project. The announcement comes shortly after Mercedes chief executive Ben Hodgkinson moved to the Milton Keynes-based outfit.

Verstappen calls for clarity on track limits

Speaking to Motorsport today, Max Verstappen called for more clarity in the enforcement of track limits. On several occasions, the Dutchman has seen his lap time go up in smoke due to exceeding the track limits imposed by the FIA. The Dutchman states that a clearer limit, in the form of a gravel pit, could provide a solution to what is already proving to be a major source of frustration early on in the season.

Hamilton prepares for tricky race

Where many a Formula 1 connoisseur expects the greater speed of the current Red Bull car to be more noticeable at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit compared to Portugal, Lewis Hamilton also sees it getting hot under his feet. In today's press conference the Briton again stressed the championship-worthy status of the RB16B and looks ahead to an exciting battle on the tarmac.
