Aston Martin hasn't set the Formula 1 world on fire since its return to the sport. After years of sponsoring Red Bull Racing the team decided to give it a go again and signed up with Lawrence Stroll. To date the team has been one of the biggest disappointments of the season.

Clean weekend

Sebastian Vettel has also been unable to find his way up the order of things since swapping red for green following disappointing weekends in Bahrain and Italy. "I think Portimao is a good place to have an incident free weekend," he told Motorsport-total.com.

Nevertheless, Vettel is looking forward to the race weekend, if only to find out for himself where Aston Martin really stands: "The track is a high-speed circuit, very flowing and with a lot of descents. It's fun to drive there and I think it's a good place to get to know the limits of the AMR21. I know I'm not getting the maximum out of the car yet, but the fact that we understand that is another good reason to keep pushing," he says somewhat confidently.

Updates

A major setback for Vettel will be that he will not be able to take advantage of much-needed updates, which were hoped to be available this weekend. Unfortunately for the German, the car will not be upgraded until the race in Barcelona.
