At Aston Martin, they are angry about the 2021 regulations. Low rake cars would be hit much harder by the new regulations, while the FIA 's new rules would play into the hands of teams like Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri. Aston Martin claimed that the regulations for this season were not even unanimously approved and is therefore demanding clarification from the FIA.

Mercedes is also affected by the 2021 regulations and the German team saw its rival Red Bull closing in on them earlier this year. Aston Martin is even considering legal action. The investigation that Aston Martin has now launched is in any case supported by Mercedes:"I think there is always certainly the right to review things, to look at them and discuss them with the FIA, to find out what actually happened, and how things went", Toto Wolff said earlier.

Marko has no good word for Aston Martin

Mercedes did manage to put a competitive car on the grid, something Aston Martin failed to do this year. Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel are struggling to finish in the top-ten, whereas last year they were guaranteed to do so."The rules have changed for safety reasons and Mercedes has managed to come up with a good car. They should just make sure they get the same information from Mercedes. After all, this is a Mercedes.", Helmut Marko sneered at Otmar Szafnauer's formation by Motorsport-Magazin.com.

Especially the floor requirements have changed in this season's regulations. As a result the cars have become slower and that was also a big wish of Pirelli, because otherwise the rubber would have had too much trouble. Furthermore Red Bull advisor Marko states that just like last season (with the much discussed copygate) the Aston Martin is once again a copy of the Mercedes car.
