After a difficult start in Bahrain, Vettel's second Grand Prix for Aston Martin was not a great success either. He was not helped by overheated brakes before the start of the race. His mechanics did everything in their power to solve this problem, but even that was not without consequences.

The mechanics of Aston Martin didn't leave the grid on time. That Vettel got a penalty for that, the German understands after the race at Imola, but the timing of the race direction leaves something to be desired.

"I think we could have had a better race if the FIA was more alert because I think we broke a rule, I guess, that is why we got a penalty, but they didn't bother until way into the race, so by that time the penalty cost us a lot more than it would have done earlier in the race", the four-time world champion is quoted by Motorsport.com.

Same penalty, different result

Vettel, had to pay a ten second stop and go penalty during the race. This cost him more time than if the penalty had been given before a safety car. "That is not very professional," Vettel thinks. Michael Masi says in his defence that the information "on a piece of paper" from the FIA official in question did not come to them earlier.
